Budgam braces for good tourist footfall this winter

Budgam, Dec 11: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam, S F Hamid Sunday visited Doodpathri to take stock of winter tourism related arrangements.
Stressing on smooth conduct of winter tourist season, the DC also chaired a meeting of officers and tourism related stakeholders including ATV operators and Pony walas at TRC in Doodpathri.
The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, Dr Nasir Ahmad; CEO Doodpathri, Dr Suraya Nargis; Executive Engineers from R&B, PHE, PDD and other concerned officers and officials besides members from ATV and pony wala associations.
At the outset, the DC said that, “we are expecting increased tourist footfall this winter at Doodpathri and need is that all arrangements and facilities are put in place well in advance for smooth and hassle-free services to visitors.”
The DC instructed concerned to ensure all arrangements regarding snow clearance are put in place for timely Snow clearance operations at Doodpathri. He also instructed concerned to ensure road remains through during the winter season to ensure better connectivity to and fro to visitors.
SF Hamid emphasized that all essential services including electricity and water supplies remain intact and speedy restoration during the winter .
The DC also took stock of other facilities including hut and hotel accommodations, medical facility, operation of ATVs and pony wala services, availability of chains for vehicles and other services during the winter season.
Stressing on inter- departmental coordination, the DC instructed concerned to sensitize field staff about their role and responsibilities to ensure better facilities to the tourists.
He said District Administration and Tourism Department is providing special focus on the development of Doodhpathri as best all weather tourist destination.
