Baramulla, May 03: Seven persons including three females and two children were injured after a pack of stray dogs attacked them in the Manzgam Boniyar area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday.
A police official said that stray dogs attacked and injured at least seven persons including two children in Manzgam. He said the injured were evacuated to GMC Baramulla for immediate treatment.
Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla Dr Parvaiz Masoodi said that seven persons including two children with dog bites were admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment. "All the injured were provided with medical treatment immediately," he said.
Dr Parvaiz said that among the injured were two males, three females and two children.  "After proper examination, the patients received first aid along with anti-rabies vaccine and anti-rabies serum," he said, adding that among the injured, one patient was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for a plastic surgery consultation.
The incident has evoked resentment from the locals who urged the authorities to put an end to the dog menace in the area.
"It is becoming difficult with each passing day to move out of homes amid packs of dogs moving in streets and on main roads," said Zubair Ahmad, a resident of Manzgam in Boniyar.
The locals alleged that the administration was not serious about eradicating the rising menace of canines in the area. "We have time and again informed the administration about the rising menace of stray dogs in our area but they are paying a deaf ear to our repeated complaints," said Ghulam Nabi, another local.
