Srinagar, Nov 8: As many as 28 people were injured in two separate road accidents in north Kashmir’s Handwara town on Tuesday morning.
According to the police, a passenger bus (JK09 1239) on its way to Srinagar met with an accident after the driver lost control of the vehicle at Watayin in Chogal. As a result, 26 people were injured in the mishap.
Soon after the accident, all the injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where some of the injured were shifted to GMC Baramulla and one injured was shifted to Srinagar Hospital for advanced treatment.
In a separate road accident, a private car also turned turtle in the Galganza area of Rajwar when the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle and met with an accident. In this incident, two people suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment where the condition of both is said to be stable.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Deputy Medical Superintendent District Hospital Handwara Dr. Aijaz said, “After receiving the call from Watyin accident site, the ambulance was pressed on the scene to move the injured persons.”
He said all 26 injured were evacuated from the spot and a few of them were discharged after receiving first aid. “Five of them were shifted to GMC Baramulla and one was shifted to SMSH Srinagar for advanced treatment,” he said.
The doctor added, “Simultaneously, another accident was reported from the Rajwar area, and soon after getting the call, another ambulance was pressed to evacuate the injured duo from the scene. The condition of the duo is stable.”
Meanwhile, a police officer from Handwara confirmed the accidents, and said cases have been registered at police station Handwara for further investigation.
