Jammu, Dec 08: Asserting that the Scouts and Guides symbolise selfless service and unity in diversity, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday said it was a matter of great pride that the Scouts and Guides are discharging their duties with efficiency and effectiveness.
Interacting with Officers and Volunteers of J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides at the Raj Bhavan, Lt Governor said that the spirit of the Scouts and Guides needs to be replicated in other spheres of the community to bring about constructive transformation.
The Lt Governor, who is also the Chief Patron of J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides, was briefed about the activities of the Scouts & Guides in the UT and the achievements of the last one year. The Lt Governor assured full support of the UT Administration to Bharat Scouts and Guides movement.
The delegation was led by J&K Chapter Commissioner, Wing Commander M.M Joshi comprising Administrator, Nasreen Khan; HQ Commissioner Capt. Sharma; Training Commissioner Guide Wing, Manjeet Kaur; Guides Captain, Jyoti Verma; Guide, Pooja Gupta & Scout, Sumkit Jain.
Observing that discipline and determination are the defining attributes of youth, the Lt Governor said, through Mission Youth, we are encouraging the young generation to selflessly work for the social development. Youth in different educational institutions should join Scouts & Guides in large numbers and play a positive role in nation building, he added.
Delegation of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust calls on Lt Governor
A delegation of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
The members of the delegation led by Vice Chairman, GDCT Arshad Ali Choudhary expressed their gratitude towards the Lt Governor for several schemes and initiatives implemented for the welfare and development of Gujjar and Bakerwal of Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation acknowledged the unprecedented steps taken by the government to uplift the nomadic community of UT by providing them their due rights as enshrined in the constitution. During the interaction, the members also raised several issues concerning the community.
The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the visiting delegation and assured the redressal of their all genuine issues and problems.
