Shopian, Jan 01: A week long training programme on mushroom cultivation was started by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Shopian on Monday for the unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs of the district.
The training on white button mushroom production technology as an agribusiness enterprise is being organised by SKUAST-K’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra Shopian under the sponsorship of union ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
Around 25 females from different areas of Shopian are participating in the training.
Officials revealed that the aim of this training is to educate the participants about potential career paths in mushroom cultivation.
Experts of KVK Shopian, KVK, SKUAST-K and Department of Agriculture are conducting sessions in the training programme.
Mushroom cultivation is emerging as a new farming activity in Shopian known for producing best quality apple in Kashmir.
SKUAST-K’S KVK Shopian has played a pivotal role through trainings and awareness campaigns in motivating youth towards the farming activity of mushroom cultivation.
