Leh, Jan 01: In response to eleven confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Ladakh, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in Leh has issued a comprehensive set of precautionary measures. The order, aimed at curbing the spread of the virus, includes mandatory mask-wearing in offices, workplaces, and public spaces, compulsory handwashing, adherence to COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviors such as social distancing, and a call for the general public to avoid unnecessary gatherings.
All Heads of Departments (HODs) in Leh District and Sub Divisional Magistrates are tasked with ensuring strict compliance with these measures. The Chief Medical Officer in Leh is directed to maintain vigilant surveillance and submit daily COVID-19 status reports.
Addressing the media in a press conference, Director of Health in Ladakh, Dr. Mutup Dorje, confirmed that the positive patients are undergoing home isolation, with adherence to COVID protocols. Guidelines have been disseminated to prevent further transmission within the Union Territory. Dr. Dorje emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging individuals to wear masks and maintain social distance in public spaces.
In a related development, one person tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and is currently under home isolation. Samples have been sent to Pune for genome sequencing to determine if it is a new JN1 sub-variant of the virus.
