Srinagar, Nov 07: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that a recent resolution was passed to demonstrate Jammu and Kashmir’s resolve, highlighting both its achievements and future goals.
Speaking at a gathering in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal after inaugurating a bridge, Omar stated, “The move was intended to show the world what J&K can accomplish and the direction we are headed towards.”
Reiterating his stance, Omar Abdullah said, “We must keep raising our voices through the Legislative Assembly and send a message that what happened on August 5, 2019, is not acceptable to us.” He expressed his discontent with decisions made without local consent.
“It was done without our permission or consultation. When we didn’t mention it on the first day in the Assembly, some mocked us, saying, ‘They forget. They were cheated.’ But we are not the ones who cheat. We know the rules and regulations,” he concluded.
Omar also addressed the concerns of parents and students, emphasiSing the impact of changes made since 2019, such as the school exam schedule. “Deciding the timing of exams was our right. We will continue raising our voices through the assembly, making it clear that what happened on August 5, 2019, is not acceptable to us,” he asserted. He added that input from families was taken to ensure their concerns were heard when making important educational decisions.
The Chief Minister emphasised the government’s focus on improving essential services in Jammu and Kashmir, including job opportunities for the youth, a steady power supply, and access to clean drinking water. He also highlighted the challenges posed by outsiders who lacked understanding of local issues. “Attempts were made to divide the people of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing in organizations and individuals unfamiliar with our problems,” he said.
Omar praised the wisdom of the Kashmiri people. “I commend the people of Kashmir for making thoughtful decisions. They have shown that they carefully consider before voting and cast their votes responsibly,” he remarked.
