Srinagar, Sept 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Wakf Board is set to constructs its maiden cancer hospital at Eidgah, Srinagar for its officials are expecting Home Minister Amit Shah to lay its foundation stone, officials said on Friday
First of its kind, the project is said to be worth 200 Cr for which Wakf Board has already completed the 3D-sketch and other related revenue documentation.
It is said that Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha had recently taken a review meeting in this regard which was attended by all the officers of Revenue Department.
“Yes a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of LG Manoj Sinha ji. Our Cancer hospital paperwork is almost complete. Even we have the 3D works complete. Whatever the blueprint an institution needs for its creation is ready. We have informed the Lieutenant Governor about it in the meeting,” confirmed Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi.
She said they are expecting union Home Minister Amit Shah to lay the foundation stone of this what she called a “dream project”.
“We expect the home minister to lay the foundation stone of this project. I have also spoken to our party president and we are hopeful Amit Shah Ji lays its foundation even if it is through a video-conference,” the Wakf chief said.
About the land allocation for the project, Dr Andrabi said that the land for the project has been identified around Eidgah area in Old city Srinagar.
“Wakf Board has some 200 kanals of its own land available in one side of Eidgah. Out of this we have kept 70 kanals for the cancer hospital,” Dr Andrabi revealed.
The Waqf chairperson further added that the board is going through a revamping phase and their aim is to make it accountable and look beyond the salaries to its employees.
“People have great expectations from the Wakf Board. We need to re-invent our working style. It is the time to make some great contributions to the people,” she said.
