Udhampur, July 05: Scores of delegations today called on Juhi Manhas Pathania, Vice Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur here at her office in DC office complex.
A variety of issues were projected including provision of drinking water, electricity supply, road connectivity, paucity of staff  in schools etc.
A spirited deputation from Majalta Tehsil urged Juhi Pathania to take up the issue with the PDC regarding prompt and speedy redressal of the public issues of power cuts over and above the curtailment schedule.
The deputation also put forth the demand for augmentation of Power distribution transformers at main market Khoon, Sundla, and several other areas, besides seeking a water tanker exclusively for Majalta-Khoon area.
Several other delegations led by PRI members had detailed discussions with the Vice Chairperson regarding key developmental issues pertaining to their areas including augmentation of drinking water supply, electricity supply, paucity of Staff in schools and health institutions.
She took up these issues with the concerned departments and instructed them to provide viable solutions to the people.
Responding to the demands regarding immediate repairing of hand pumps, she called upon the Groundwater Department to start restoration of the same to mitigate the water shortage problem. She also vied for regular tanker service in dry, arid areas reeling under acute drinking water scarcity. She also called for crash measures for coping with water scarcity in these areas. She further called for close liaison between the civil and mechanical wing of Jal Shakti Deptt  to ensure proper supply of water to the people in these days of scorching heat.  She also called upon the Department of JPDCL to avoid even a single minute power cut outside the curtailment schedule as this slip short electricity supply affects the medical operations, drinking water supply, construction activities and local trade system.
She assured delegations of immediate redressal of all their demands.
