Ladakh, July 22: In an endeavor to broaden horizons and foster a deeper understanding of sustainable agriculture and ecological balance, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K (Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir), Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, flagged off a group of seventy-four enthusiastic students from the Faculty of Horticulture on a mesmerizing exposure cum study tour to the breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh.
The ceremony, held at the university campus, was filled with anticipation and excitement as the students geared up for the transformative journey of learning and discovery. Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai expressed his delight at witnessing the young minds take on this unique opportunity, which he believed would have a profound impact on their academic and personal growth.
“Exposure to diverse environments and practices is paramount in shaping future leaders in agriculture. The Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture, Dr. Neelofar Banday, also addressed the gathering, praising the students’ dedication to academic excellence. She urged them to make the most of this exceptional chance to study Ladakh’s unique horticultural practices while also stressing the importance of preserving the region’s fragile ecosystems.
The meticulously planned itinerary for the tour includes visits to local Research Stations, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK’s), orchards, and nurseries. The students will have the privilege of interacting with experienced horticulturists and environmentalists from the region, gleaning insights from their vast knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Ajaz Malik, the Incharge Tour Faculty of Horticulture, highlighted the significance of the tour’s cultural component.
