Srinagar, Aug 07: In a remarkable stride towards fostering inclusivity and grassroots sports development, the Department of Youth Services and Sports Anantnag, organised special sports events dedicated to Tribal Communities in Zones Shangus and Achabal.*Zone Shangus*, successfully organized a vibrant sports event at Higher Secondary School Dethu, aiming to empower tribal youth through active sports participation. The event was inaugurated by the Principal of HSS Dethu in the presence of staff members, local dignitaries, and community members.A statement issued here said that the tribal students from HSS Chittergul, HSS Dethu, and HS Ranipora participated enthusiastically in multiple disciplines including Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Athletics, with events held for both boys and girls. The initiative not only highlighted the sporting talent among tribal students but also reflected the Department’s unwavering commitment to equitable access and participation in sports. Continuing the mission, *Zone Achabal* organised a special sports and cultural event for tribal youth at MS Reni Akingam on the same day. The event witnessed a grand and traditional welcome of ZPEO Achabal and the Chief Guest, Principal HSS Akingam. The event aimed at promoting not just sports but also the rich tribal culture and community spirit. Tribal Students from HSS Akingam, MS Reni Akingam, and MS Cidass actively participated in Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Athletics events. Both boys and girls took part with immense zeal, showcasing their sporting talent and cultural pride. A special highlight of the day was the traditional Gojri dance performance on Dhol (Shamsher Bazi) and tribal folk songs presented by the students, creating a vibrant cultural atmosphere. The President of the local Tribal Community expressed heartfelt gratitude to the YSS Department, especially to ZPEO Achabal, for providing a platform for the tribal youth to exhibit their skills and heritage. It is noteworthy that such Tribal Sports and Cultural Events will be conducted across all 12 zones of District Anantnag in the coming days, further reinforcing the Department’s vision of inclusive and community-driven sports promotion.
