Pattan, Mar 19: To improve healthcare services, the government Wednesday said that CHC Pattan (Trauma Hospital Pattan) remains functional with 16 out of 18 sanctioned doctors and 38 out of 48 paramedical staff in position. Additionally, four more doctors have been deployed under the NHM.
In a reply to a question tabled by MLA Pattan, Javid Riyaz, regarding medical and paramedical personnel shortages in the region, government said CHC Pattan has a sanctioned strength of 18 doctors, with 16 currently in position.
“Similarly, the paramedical and non-gazetted staff have a sanctioned strength of 48, with 38 currently serving. To further reinforce healthcare services, four additional doctors from the NHM have been deployed to Block Pattan,” it said.
To bridge the gap in the healthcare sector, the government further said Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is in the process of recruiting 181 Medical Officers. Once appointed, these doctors will be posted in health institutions experiencing severe shortages, particularly in rural and underserved areas, it said.
Furthermore, a waitlist of 91 selected Medical Officers is being utilized to fill immediate vacancies across Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring improved accessibility to medical services in critical areas.
“Department remained committed to strengthen healthcare services by monitoring staffing levels and ensuring the timely deployment of medical professionals across the Union Territory,” reads the reply.
