Udhampur, Jan 28: BJP Spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania on Sunday said the political narrative of J&K underwent a significant change after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
Addressing the meetings in various areas of Kathua, Pathania that the abrogation of Article 370 move was a strong response to Pakistan and other forces attempting to create disturbances on Indian soil. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for outsmarting such moves by tightening control over militancy and those posing threats to the country. The zero-tolerance policy of the Bharat Sarkar (Indian Government) curtailed the space for anti-India activities.
“The scrapping of Article 370 fundamentally altered the political landscape of J&K, ending anti-people laws and practices. The region shifted from being a state with its own constitution to a Union Territory directly administered by the central government. This centralization of power led to a change in the perception of political authority, with decisions being made more centrally,” he said.
The BJP spokesperson added, “The reorganization prompted shifts in the political dynamics within J&K. Some leaders who had previously enjoyed significant influence found themselves adapting to the changed circumstances.” He highlighted the significance of this transformation, marking a new era in the region’s political narrative.
Pathania also noted that the period post Article 370 abrogation witnessed a heightened emphasis on neutralizing militant groups, controlling cross-border infiltration, and enhancing the capabilities of the state’s police force and intelligence agencies. The focus shifted towards a more assertive counter-terrorism approach, profoundly impacting security dynamics and the political landscape, he said.
Ranbir concluded by stating that the anti-national forces have been marginalized, and there is a need for coherent action to follow and propagate the transformed narrative. He emphasized that this marks the foundation of a new Jammu & Kashmir with justice, opportunities, accountability, and equality for all.
The meetings were attended by various local leaders and party members, reflecting the BJP’s efforts to connect with the people and communicate its perspective on the changes in J&K’s political scenario.
