Srinagar, April 14: A Mumbai-based tour manager of “Veena World Mumbai” was apprehended in a Gondola ticket fraud case after 28 tourists were found in Gulmarg using fake tickets.
Meanwhile after the incident, , Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, managing director of the Cable Corporation, has advised travellers to buy their tickets directly from the website in order to avoid falling prey to touts.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, MD Cable Corporation said that the tourists’ fake tickets were discovered when they tried to enter the gondola in Gulmarg. Investigation revealed that the visitors’ tour manager had provided them with the fake tickets. Similar to this, a FIR No. 08 of 2023 has been filed with the Gulmarg police station, and the tourism manager has been arrested..
Ghulam Jeelani Zargar has asked all tourists to book their tickets online directly from the website in light of this occurrence to avoid such fraudulent acts. He added that the only authorized way to buy tickets for the gondola trips is through the online booking system.
MD urged tourists to book their tickets online on cable car corporation website as this is the only way to book the tickets . He again cautioned visitors not to fall prey in the hands of unscrupulous elements and in case anybody offers tourists a ticket other than online , they should report at helpline no 9103058616 from 8:30 to 5:30.
This incident highlights the importance of being cautious while purchasing tickets for tourist attractions and staying away from touts, who often prey on unsuspecting tourists. The Cable Corporation of Gulmarg is taking all necessary measures to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
The officer said the group was traveling with a tour company named “Veena World Mumbai”, and their tour manager, Makrand Anand Ghanekar, was found to be responsible for the fake ticket scam. He confessed that he had himself edited the tickets in Mumbai, and the passengers were unaware of this illegal activity.
However, the JKCCC (Jammu & Kashmir Cable Car Corporation) administration promised that the passengers wouldn’t suffer as a result of the tour company’s ill-thought plans. The Gulmarg Gondola Project’s ticket scanning personnel handled the situation with accuracy and expertise.
The case was given to SHO Gulmarg by Showkat Ahmad Bhat, the project manager for the Gulmarg Gondola, together with all the facts, evidence, witnesses, and the offender. The Gulmarg Gondola’s local administration made sure that they would continue to work relentlessly for the welfare of the passengers in order to make the ticketing process more user-friendly and transparent.
The incident has sparked questions about the validity of tickets and the requirement for stringent policies to stop such nefarious activities. The activity has also highlighted how susceptible travelers are to such nefarious groups in the tourism sector.
