JAMMU, Sept 01:
Following internal dissent over ticket distribution, the BJP high command has decided to award mandates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir to prominent senior leaders in a bid to address party grievances.
“Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta and President of the Union Territory of J&K RavinderRaina are most likely to receive the party’s mandate,” highly placed sources informed Rising Kashmir.
The BJP has already released a list of 46 candidates for the Assembly elections, leaving seven seats in the Jammu Province yet to be filled. Sources indicate that the list for these remaining seven candidates will be released within a day or two.
Kavinder Gupta is expected to receive the party mandate for the newly created Bahu seat, which encompasses most areas of the former Gandhi Nagar constituency that Gupta represented in the last Assembly.
RavinderRaina is also anticipated to be fielded for the Nowshera constituency, which he previously won in the last elections.
The decision to field these senior leaders follows repeated protests and internal dissent within the BJP regarding the ticket distribution process. The high command’s move aims to placate disgruntled party members and strengthen the party’s position ahead of the elections.
