Ganderbal, April 25: In a move to facilitate smoother travel through the Sonamarg route, the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, met Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore Friday to finalize key decisions aimed at supporting Ladakhi residents and tourists.
A major highlight of the meeting was toll tax exemption will be provided for vehicles registered with LA01, LAO2, JKO7, JK10 and other Ladakhi vehicles on the Sonamarg highway, space will be allocated for Ladakh tourism, including the establishment of a dedicated counter to assist tourists and promote tourism-related information and services. A counter for Ladakh Police will also be set up, which will not only provide administrative support but also facilitate essential services for tourists. Accommodation facilities will be arranged for stranded tourists, especially during road closures and weather-related disruptions. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore assured that all necessary steps will be taken to implement these initiatives at the earliest. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to work together for peace development and the welfare of the people of Ladakh and Ganderbal.
