Pulwama, July 12 : Authorities in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have initiated an investigation into corruption allegations against two revenue officials.
The probe follows a viral video in which an elderly resident, Ghulam Rasool Malik from Malikpora area of Pulwama, accuses the two revenue officials of corruption and unequal land distribution.
In the video, Malik claims that his rightful share of land has been unjustly occupied by his relatives.
Seeking justice, he approached the local halqa patwari with his revenue documents, pleading for a proper demarcation of the land to reclaim his due share.
However, Malik alleges that concerned halqa patwaris, took substantial amount totalling approximately two lakh and five thousand rupees on various occasions from him.
He is heard saying in the viral video that despite the halqa patwari acknowledging the discrepancy in Malik’s land share, he reportedly failed to take corrective action.
This inaction has led Malik to voice his grievances publicly, accusing the officials of severe misconduct.
The video also contains additional serious allegations against the revenue officials.
Through the video, Malik has made a fervent appeal to authorities for justice and requested that the amount be returned to him.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, has responded promptly to the viral video.
He confirmed to Rising Kashmir that the district administration has taken cognisance of the allegations and has ordered an inquiry.
The investigation will be conducted under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), who has been tasked with submitting a detailed report on the matter without delay.
