Srinagar, Apr 29: “It is time for young voters to break their silence and take control of their future,” said People’s Democratic Party Youth President and Parliament Candidate for Central Kashmir, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra on Monday while addressing several public meetings in various areas of Budgam district during his campaign trail. He was accompanied by senior party member Mohammad Yaseen Bhat, along with other senior functionaries of the party.
Addressing the people in Chadoora, Budgam, Parra said, “The people of Kashmir need to differentiate between those who have spoken up for their dignity, identity, and rights over the past five years, and those who have only sought to protect their own interests from investigations and summons.”
He alleged that certain leaders and parties were “created on the day when the rights and dignity of Kashmiris were snatched away”. He criticised them for “leading lavish lives”, saying the leaders of PDP “faced scrutiny, summons and harassment”.
Parra stressed that this election is not merely about roads, power, and other material aspects, but about who will vehemently advocate for the rights and dignity of Kashmiris in parliament.
“The time for silence is over. It’s time for you to take charge of your future. Till now, your voices have been drowned and ignored, but the young generation needs to stand up now and support the future they deserve. By voting for PDP, you will become part of a people’s movement that will represent your concerns and issues from Kashmir to Delhi. We will stand up against the injustice and inequality with Kashmiris and will fight for their rights in Parliament,” he added.
“We promise to represent your aspirations if voted into power,” he asserted.
Waheed reiterated that the PDP represents the aspirations of the people and has always stood with them during challenging times. He said this Lok Sabha election is not just about developmental issues such as electricity, water, and roads. “Instead, it is about addressing larger issues of dignity, identity, property, and resources of the region,” he added.
Meanwhile, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident in Sonamarg on Sunday.
In a condolence message, Parra said, ‘I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of precious lives in an unfortunate road accident in Sonamarg, Ganderbal, on Sunday. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. I am praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Parra extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this tragedy and urged the administration to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved. He also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to swiftly provide adequate compensation to the victims’ families.
