Jammu, Aug 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has announced its full support to the 26th Aug ‘Jammu Bandh’ against the toll collection at Sarore Toll Plaza and the installation of smart meters.
This was informed by Rattan Lal Gupta, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Provincial President Jammu while addressing a press conference here on Friday.
The senior NC leader said the people of Jammu are already on roads demanding the abolition of Sarore Toll Plaza and stopping of smart meters installation but this has had no effect at all on the Union Territory Administration and the ‘Jammu Bandh’ is the appropriate measure to get the genuine demands of the common people fulfilled.
In this connection, the meeting called by the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari with the Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership and NHAI on Sarore Toll Plaza is a mere eyewash and BJP’s ploy to adopt delay tactics and befool the people, he said.
Gupta while condemning the police action on the peaceful protestors the other day demanded the immediate release of the detained protestors and withdrawing of all the cases registered against them. “It is quite unreasonable for the government to gag the people’s voice on even the genuine issues affecting each and every person of society,” he said.
The Provincial President warned the J&K administration that the people of Jammu will launch a massive agitation in case the authorities fail to concede the people’s genuine demand on these two burning issues.
