Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Kulgam & Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A Spokesperson said that Police team of Police Station Yaripora at a checkpoint established at Kokergund Crossing, Humshali bugh intercepted a person roaming in suspicious condition. He has been identified as Faizan Ahmad Dar son of Nafeez Ahmad Dar resident of Brazloo Jagir. During search, 2.087 grams of Heroin like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.
In Awantipora, a police party of Police Post Toll Plaza headed by Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora at a checkpoint established near Chersoo Crossing intercepted a vehicle (load Carrier) bearing registration number JK13H- 8415 with 02 persons onboard. During search, 1.2 Kgs of grinded Cannabis-like substance was recovered from their possession. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. They have been identified as Arshid Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Gulshanabad Rajpora Pulwama & Shakir Ahmad Ganie son of Fayaz Ahmad Ganie resident of Gulshanabad Rajpora Pulwama.
All the accused have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
