Rain is not only a form of precipitation but a manifestation of empyrean dexterity and adroitness as well. A shower of rain seen through a flash of incandescent light, compels one to believe that a natural flurry of pearls and rubies is embellishing the mother earth, to give it bridal vibes and looks. Rain undoubtedly makes it more charming, ravishing and enticing. Drops of rain form beautiful but ephemeral bubbles which apprise man about the evanescence of life. The bursting bubbles produce a boisterous jingle which musical maestros of the world fail to replicate or reproduce. Nature is considered to be at its best when it rains and rains only. Rain is the purest incarnation of divinity and Godliness.
Clouds open up to descend the heavenly elixir on the planet earth to ensure the continuity of life in the world. Mother earth stores the antidotal liquid inside it for future distribution among thirsty and parched souls. Rainfall is very often attributed to the mercy of Allah SWT, and very rightly so, because the drizzle of tiny drops validate the fact that the God loves HIS creations despite the reality that they forget Him, His favours, and violate His divine constitution.
Cessation of heavenly downpour is probably one of the punitive measures initiated by the Owner of the universe to chastise the people when they go awry and astray. History is witness to many famines when the heavenly custodians of the clouds have refused to send down the Adam’s ale from the skies. Such extreme and harsh verdict from heavens is a concrete proof that the Sustainer of the universe is no more pleased with His creations. But, Allah (SWT) is still very compassionate and generous upon us; otherwise our crimes, transgressions and sins are enough to halt it for us. So, the rain from heavens reminds us how dear we are to our Lord (Allah SWT). Thus, the rain is a sheer blessing and priceless bounty from Allah SWT.
Rain impregnates the environment with a special fragrance called Petrichor. The natural scent perfumes the mother earth to enjoy and experience scenty vibes. God Himself is fond of beauty, elegance, grace and scent. The kasturi fragrance of soil after first rain is unparalleled in nature. It cleanses souls and minds off the muck of humdrum and worldly stress. The smell wraps everything in pleasant aura and aroma. If the fragrance of this world is so sweet and ambrosial, how exhilarating and intriguing the fragrance of Jannah will be! The worldly fragrance intensifies the longing of the paradisiacal scent in the hearts of the believers (Moomineen).
Rain brings melody to ears, and it almost hypnotizes all the creatures in their abodes. Euphony of rain soothes a stormy and turbulent horse as the lullaby of a mother lulls a willfully crying child. It brings indescribable peace and tranquility to violent brutes, and removes fears of those whom venomous circumstances have stung repeatedly. Raindrops striking the face of the mother earth, remove the continuous clatter and clank of industrial advancement. Sound of rain is simply a source of joy and elation for every creature. Pattering of rain drops in lawns sends jolly flavours through our spines.
Rains give us ample time to take rest and relax. Nature probably is aware about our hectic and busy life. We often fail to take necessary naps and rests, but the rain comes to our rescue. A rainy day provides us an opportunity to enjoy hot fritters with simmering aromatic tea. A stress free hour in a chair or balcony of our house is worth billions of dollars. A rainy scene seen through a window is a loving experience. The cloud loses its existence in joy to resuscitate the dying souls. The unselfish act of compassion is exemplary.
Children make merry in the rain. Contrarily to elders, the flurry does not make them afraid of getting wet or soiling their clothes. They play like dolphins in the open showers. I believe that Mother Nature probably rains when its pent-up longings to play swell-up and expand. The children exhibit the highest level of insouciance when they are jumping carelessly in puddles of rain, splashing the water in the air as if supernatural powers are creating fountains from the bosom of the mother earth. Floating paper boats in gushing spurts running across the yards of houses, fill euphoric sensations in children. Enjoying a rain bath in a garden or on a terrace is something special and memorable to scribe on one’s memory bank. Rains reduce monotony, and provide children an opportunity to take a recreational pause from their stressful study schedule.
Rains wash off the dirt, dust and debris accumulated on open surfaces, green foliage and animal skins. Human activities very often leave ugly scars on biotic and abiotic components of environment, piled up filth makes surroundings stinky and fetorous. And here, the Mother Nature comes to its rescue. A gushing shower cleans and clears the environs off the dirt and muck. Species look vibrant and rejuvenated after a spell of rains moist the surfaces. Rain is a hope in despair; it is like an oasis in a desert.
