Jammu, Jan 07: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir , Manoj Sinha on Tuesday stressed that the government is adamant and committed towards a terror free and fear free Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the coordination between security forces and other agencies has resulted in a stringent approach to completely dismantle the terrorist and separatist ecosystem in J&K.
“A terror-free and fear-free J&K is the government’s resolve,” LG Sinha said, while adding, “The security agencies have been going all out to dismantle the terrorist and separatist ecosystem in the Union Territory of J&K”.
LG was speaking while addressing the Passing Out Parade of Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) at the Police Academy in Udhampur in Jammu region.
He highlighted that the J&K Police, working under extremely challenging circumstances, is playing a significant role in the country’s internal security, ensuring the integrity of the nation and safety of the citizens of Union Territory.
He cautioned that modern technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools have transformed the security landscape and said that challenges like disinformation remain major concerns.
“At the operational level, we have improved coordination between the police and other security agencies and adopted a whole-of-government approach to dismantle the terrorist and separatist ecosystem in J&K,” LG Sinha said.
Sinha also commended the J&K Poilce for its significant role in ensuring internal security, upholding the nation’s integrity and protecting the citizens of J&K despite all odds and challenges.
The LG also urged the JKP to leverage innovative tools to counter disinformation and cross-border cyber threats.
LG Sinha congratulated all 61 passing-out police officers and urged them to discharge their duties with honesty, dedication and professionalism.
“From today, the nation entrusts you with the critical responsibility of maintaining internal security, combating terrorism, upholding the rule of law and ensuring a safe and secure environment for the people and I wish you success in every mission,” Sinha said in his address.
LG Sinha also paid tribute to the bravehearts of the JKP and other security forces who laid down their lives for the nation.
He emphasized upon the need to anticipate and analyze changes in criminal modus operandi to stay one step ahead.
“We need to shift from reactive policing to proactive policing,” he said.
Sinha further said that “narco-terrorism, social media weaponization and disinformation campaigns have also emerged as major threats to internal security and societal harmony”.
“I call upon young police officers to embrace new ideas and tools to lead the fight against narco-terrorism, drug trafficking, cybercrime and radicalization,” he added.
“Investigation and successful prosecution are critical tools of effective policing and responsibility of the J&K Police extends beyond neutralizing terrorists to eliminating divisive elements and those aiding and abetting terrorism and separatism,” he said.
