BUDGAM: The Roads and Buildings department on Monday declared the Bailey bridge over Nallah Sukhnag at Beerwah main town unsafe for traffic movement and closed it until repairs are completed in the area.
An official from the R & B department Division Beerwah told Rising Kashmir that the bridge in Beerwah main town has been damaged and is unsafe for traffic movement.
“For the safety of the general public, traffic movement has been closed on both sides of the bridge. People are advised to follow alternative routes to enter Beerwah main town, as traffic movement has been fully restricted on the Bailey bridge over Nallah Sukhnag,” the official said.
He added that the bridge will be repaired immediately, as it is the main connectivity for various villages in the Beerwah tehsil, connecting it to the district headquarters and other villages.
However, students, sumo drivers, and traders have requested the Roads and Buildings department to prioritize the repair of this Bailey bridge.
