Srinagar, Oct 19: In order to emphasize the importance and adherence on following the traffic rules, Srinagar Traffic Police held a day-long traffic awareness session at Degree College Bemina in Srinagar as part of its ongoing awareness campaign.
Sharing the details of the awareness programme, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) for Srinagar traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, told Rising Kashmir that the programme is part of ongoing traffic awareness series among the students who mostly ride two-wheelers.
“A day-long session was held at Degree College Bemina on Tuesday in which more than 200 students participated and during the programme students were sensitized on following the traffic rules while plying their vehicles on road. The awareness session was conducted jointly with KRSF”, SSP Traffic Srinagar said.
SSP Traffic Srinagar said that they had aligned maximum educational institutions in Srinagar to calibrate the students on the importance of following the traffic rules.
“Recently we conducted an awareness sessions at one of the educational institutions in Srinagar in which around 1000 students and their teachers participated during which audio/video presentation was presented highlighting the importance of traffic rules while plying the vehicles on the road”, he added.
SSP City Traffic added that they are also witnessing a change on the ground as many people are adopting the habit of wearing helmets while riding the two-wheelers, however, he added that along with the educational cum awareness programme the enforcement on the ground will continue.
Pertinent to mention that many Srinagar areas after witnessing rash and stunt riding by the young bikers after which they used to upload videos on various social media handles, taking help from the J&K Cyber Police Srinagar Traffic Police authorities identified many riders and called them along with their parents and were subsequently let off after counseling sessions.
As per the traffic authorities in Srinagar, ‘Under-Age’ driving has been another concern on which their department is working and has reiterated it’s appeal to the parents to not let their minor children drive any vehicle.
