Ganderbal: The Border Roads Organization (BRO) initiated a snow clearance operation on the road leading to Kargil on Friday after a temporary closure due to a recent snowfall on Zojila Road. The operation, which began from Ranga Side, involves the use of sophisticated snow cutters and dozens of personnel to ensure a swift reopening of the crucial route.
Officials reported that the Zojila Road had experienced a temporary closure in response to a fresh spell of snow, prompting the BRO to mobilize resources for the vital task. The organization, responsible for maintaining the highway, has worked tirelessly to clear the snow, employing advanced equipment for efficient results.
Remarkably, this winter season marked the first time that Zojila Road remained open until January, showcasing the efforts invested in maintaining accessibility despite challenging weather conditions.
While the higher reaches of Ganderbal district, including the picturesque health resort Sonamarg, witnessed fresh snowfall on Thursday, the weather cleared on Friday, facilitating the ongoing snow clearance operation.
