Srinagar, Nov 26: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir participated in four days (20-24th of Nov. 2024) “National Agriculture Summit-2024” at SKUAST-Jammu, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Omar Abdullah.
During the event, SKUAST-Kashmir stalls were the point of attraction as it displayed commercialized products of various patented technologies, plethora of live agri. exhibits, products and by-products – value added products of different niche crops of Kashmir like aromatic Mushkibudji, Red rice, Saffron, Kalazeera, Buckwheat etc. Beside showcasing of various technologies, a sale counter was also provided for the sale of the products.
Various stakeholders’ departments, agencies, KVKs and line departments, NGOs also participated in the National Agriculture Summit-2024 for displaying their exhibits / products. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Shopian bagged first prize in fruit show for apple and second prize for almond. Students of SKUAST-Kashmir also participated in quiz competition and two teams from varsity (Pashmina & Chinar) bagged third prize for students Competition on Agriculture & Allied sectors.
Mela was concluded by the visit of Gulam Ali Khatana, Member Parliament, Rajay Sabha on 23rd Nov 2024. During the valedictory speech he appreciated work carried out by both the universities. Besides the work of Dr Sajjad Ul Akbar entrepreneur promoted by SKUAST-K was also appreciated.
Deputy Chief Minister . Surinder Choudhary, Javed Ahmad Dar Minister of Agriculture, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Mission Director HADP Rahul Yadav and other host of dignitaries attended the said National Summit.
