SKUAST-K College of Sericulture organises workshop on ‘Agri Clinics’

Srinagar, Nov 20: Workshop on Agriclinic and Agri Business Centre (ACABC) was held on Wednesday with the theme of “Aatma Nirbhartha” focusing the self-employment mind set for the agriculture Pass outs and Graduates of the Campus.
The programme was inaugurated by Dean faculty SKUAST CoTS Campus Mirgund Dr. Sahaf who was chief Guest on the occasion.
The program was attended by Prof. Farah Naaz, Deputy Director Training Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K Shalimar other district officers of District Baramulla Lead District manager Baramulla and Director RSETI Baramulla. The programme was organized by the DDM NABARD Mr. Zubair in collaboration with Division of Cocoon Crop Production, CoTS, SKUAST-K.
DDM NABARD in his keynote address highlighted the role of NABARD in the revival of the agriculture sector and underscored the importance of the agriculture sector in taking forward the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Talking with the forum, DDM NABARD gave an overview of the ACABC scheme and the benefits for establishing the ACABC units at ground level.
He apprised about availability of 44% subsidy to Hilly districts from the GOI under the scheme.. He underscored the need for stronger synergy between Development departments and the agriculture Universities. He also advocated for more efforts towards strengthening market channels and market intelligence to help farmers and artisans.
Chief Guest Dr. Sahaf congratulated Mr. Zubair from NABARD and Dr. Khursheed A. Dar from CoTS for conducting such a wonderful informative workshop at SKUAST CoTS Campus. The key speakers of the programme Prof. Farah Naaz, Deputy Director, Extension SKUAST-K, Mr. Sajjad, Manager, J&K Bank, Prof. M. F. Baqual, Head, HPP, CoTS, Mirgund acquainted the participants with the aims and objectives of the programme. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. I. L. Khan, Head, DCCP, CoTS, Mirgund
