Ganderbal, Nov 28: A week long MSME sponsored advanced entrepreneurship skill development program on ‘Empowering Women through Dairy Herd Health Improvement Initiatives’ concluded at FVSc & AH (SKUAST-Kashmir) Shuhama. The training program was organized by the varsity’s Division of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine from 21-27 November, 2024, in which about 20 potential women entrepreneurs participated.
Prof Haroon Rashid Naik, Director Planning & Monitoring, SKUAST Kashmir was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory function and Dr KS Risam, former Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu presided the function as Guest of Honour. In addition, Heads of Divisions and scientists of the faculty also attended.
In his address Prof Haroon highlighted the importance and impact of MSME sponsored trainings, adding that such training programs are crucial for impactful societal development. Prof Naik stressed on trainees to apply the knowledge and skills learnt for its logical practical uptake. He advised for creation of one active entrepreneurial business group among the trainees.
Dr KS Risam in his address highlighted the utility and need of skill trainings in dairy sector for budding women entrepreneurs in context of its scale and scope. Dr Azmat Alam Khan in his remarks stressed on the need for change in mindset towards entrepreneurship in livestock sector and congratulated the organizers for the theme chosen and skills imparted. Earlier, Prof Mohammad Altaf Bhat welcomed the participants and other guests.
Dr Nuzhat Hassan Program Coordinator presented the training summary. For successful completion the participants were provided with a specially designed Farm Biosecurity Kit. This program was part of a series of similar programs organized by the Division of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine.
