Srinagar, Sept 24: The Jammu and Kashmir administration (J&K) and J&K Police is making every possible effort to ensure the smooth movement of fruit laden trucks on Srinagar-Jammu national highway (NH) 44, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Traffic J&K, Vikramjit Singh said on Saturday.
He made these observations during his interaction with the delegation of Shopian Fruit Transport Association who called on the IGP today.
During the meeting, the IGP Traffic informed that there is an increase in the number of heavy motor vehicles (HMV) on NH 44 due to the onset of fruit harvest season.
“JK Traffic Police is trying its best to manage these fruit laden HMVs on NH44 and has even increased the timing of down convoy movement on NH,” IGP said.
IGP Traffic advised the association members to increase the dispatch of fruit trucks through the Mughal Road which is more convenient to Shopian traders and is presently under-utilized.
The association members, while accepting the suggestions of IGP Traffic raised some of their issues for using Mughal Road to which the IGP Traffic promised to take up issues with the concerned.
He further assured the delegation of all possible cooperation from the Traffic Police.
“J&K administration is ensuring smooth and speedy transportation of fruit laden trucks from Kashmir Valley to other parts of the country,” IGP assured.
