JAMMU, JUNE 24,In a significant development following the tragic Dhangri terror attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with the grieving families on Saturday. Saroj Bala, a mother who lost her two sons in the attack, expressed her gratitude as Shah assured the families of justice and vowed to visit Rajouri soon.
During the meeting held in Jammu, Saroj Bala and other affected families conveyed their sole desire for justice. Bala, whose sons Prince and Deepak were among the victims, shared her emotional interaction with the Home Minister. She recounted how Shah took her hand and promised that justice would be delivered to all the families affected by the heinous act. Expressing regret for not being able to visit Rajouri earlier, Shah assured Bala that he would soon travel to their hometown.
Saroj Bala, filled with renewed hope, stated that her faith in justice was strengthened after the meeting with the Home Minister. The meeting lasted approximately 30-35 minutes, providing the families with confidence that their case would be prioritized and thoroughly investigated.
In a tweet, Home Minister Amit Shah said “Met Smt. Suraj Sharma and her family, who are the survivors of the Rajouri terror attacks. Their courage and bravery are India’s pillars of strength in ending the menace of terrorism. I extended my deepest condolences and assured them of government support.”
The families of other victims also shared their stories of grief and expressed discontent over the delay in the investigation by the local police authorities. They urged the Home Minister to personally intervene in the case and enhance the security apparatus in the district. Additionally, they highlighted the public protests and dharnas in Dhangri, emphasizing the failure of the agencies to bring the case to a resolution.
The Dhangri attacks, which occurred on January 1, resulted in the tragic loss of five lives. The following day, two more lives were claimed by improvised explosive devices (IED) that had been planted earlier. The shocking incidents rattled the previously peaceful Jammu region and evoked painful memories of past terrorist massacres targeting minority Hindus.
The victims have been identified as Satish Kumar (45), Deepak Kumar (23), Pritam Lal (57), Shishu Pal (32), and Prince Sharma, Vihan Sharma (04), and Samiksha Sharma (16).
The devastating Dhangri terror attacks have left the region in a state of grief and insecurity. The prompt action and personal assurance of justice by Home Minister Amit Shah bring hope to the affected families and signify a firm resolve to tackle terrorism. The families’ pleas for enhanced security measures and a swift resolution to the case underscore the urgent need to restore peace and stability in the region.
