Jammu, May 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has reconstituted the screening committee for the registration of Kashmiri migrants.
As per an official order, the committee will supersede all previous orders on the subject.
Administrative Secretary, Home Department will be the chairman of the committee while as Additional Director General of Police, CID, J&K, Administrative Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir/Jammu, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K will be its members.
It further reads that the committee will register bonafide migrants who have fled due to threats to themselves or their families. The registration process will follow all necessary formalities laid down by the government.
Each application for registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the threat perception and verification report provided by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the District Magistrate of the concerned district playing a crucial role, it reads.
The Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction will service the committee. Meetings of the committee will be held on a quarterly basis, it added.
