Srinagar, May 08: As the annual ShriAmarnathjiYatra approaches, Jammu and Kashmir is set to introduce semi-permanent infrastructure for two base hospitals in Pahalgam and Baltal. Departing from the traditional practice of constructing temporary facilities annually, the Health and Medical Education Department aims to establish structures that ensure durability and resilience throughout the year.
This strategic move not only streamlines the process but also enhances healthcare accessibility and emergency services for pilgrims and tourists alike. The expansion of healthcare facilities is expected to have a significant positive impact on public health in the region.
Dr.Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director Health Services Kashmir, highlights the preparedness of hospitals along transit routes, with specialized doctors ready to provide comprehensive medical care. Oxygen Manifold Systems will be functionalized at key locations to handle emergencies effectively.
Tertiary care facilities such as SKIMS Soura, SKIMS Bemina, and Government Medical Colleges will be on standby to manage any referral cases during the yatra.
Authorities urge yatris to cooperate and acclimatize themselves to weather conditions, stressing the importance of carrying warm clothing and compulsory health certificates.
The preparations for the AmarnathYatra were extensively discussed during a National Level Review and Planning Meeting chaired by AtulGoel, Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, underscoring the commitment to ensuring a seamless yatra experience.
