Refresher courses in four games conclude

Srinagar, Nov21: Joint Director (Kashmir), Youth Services and Sports Department, Bashir Ahmed, while speaking on the concluding ceremony of the week long refresher courses in four games on Monday, threw light on the importance of these courses at the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports at Wazirbagh here.
 
He stated that aim of these courses is to update the knowledge of the in-service employees in selected sports disciplines and makes them aware of the latest developments in the field of sports. “The Department of Youth Services and Sports has produced coaches and sports trainers of high caliber and significantly contributed in rendering their expertise and assistance in the preparation of the teams for various Zonal, District, and UT Level activities,” he added.
 
JD YSS was addressing a gathering of trainees which included PETs, PEMS, and REKs. He was accompanied by District Youth Services and Sports Officer Srinagar Balbir Singh and other senior officers of the Department.
 
A total of 80 trainees of Srinagar District took part in the week-long refresher courses who underwent the training in the disciplines of Hockey, Hand Ball, Fencing and Athletics by a panel of experts and resource persons from the Department. The trainers include Azad Ahmed and Rauf Khan(Athletics), Jamsheed Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed (Hand Ball), Razia Sultana and Niyaz Ahmed (Fencing) besides Mohammad Shafi Wani and Iqbal Ahmed (Hockey).
 
Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO Srinagar said such programmes are essential for helping trainees gain knowledge and wisdom as it further adds to their skills for the larger interest of sportspersons of the UT. He proposed that such orientation programmes are organized every year in all the games by the Department Of Youth Services & Sports across J&K. Few among the participating trainees while expressing happiness over the conduct of these courses, shared their experiences and put forth some suggestions as well.
 
Pertinently these refresher courses were organized under “Sports For Drug Free Srinagar” campaign by the Department Of Youth Services & Sports J&K.
