Raj Nehru appointed as OSD to Haryana CM Nayab Saini

Chandigarh, Dec 06: Dr. Raj Nehru, Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, has been appointed as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
A distinguished educator and a multifaceted personality, Dr. Nehru brings with him a blend of administrative, academic, and corporate expertise spanning over two decades.
He has held prominent positions in companies like IBM and Concentrix. Dr. Nehru’s decision to leave a promising corporate career and lucrative opportunities to dedicate himself to serving society and the nation reflects his unwavering commitment and exemplary spirit of sacrifice.
Through his unique dedication, he has established himself in public service, becoming the founding Vice Chancellor of the country’s first state skill university and successfully implementing its vision.
Dr. Nehru’s significant contributions include serving as Mission Director of the Skill Development Corporation prior to joining the university. He is a member of esteemed institutions such as UGC and AICTE and has been instrumental in developing a model for skill integration in higher education in India.
In 2016, Dr. Raj Nehru was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University. He has also held additional responsibilities at two other universities. A renowned author, Dr. Nehru has published four books, with his latest, *Aham Shivam*, garnering widespread acclaim.
Dr. Nehru has revolutionized the skill development model by prioritizing national and state-level initiatives over a corporate career. He has also served as a Director on the Board of Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation Limited.
Notably, he was appointed as a member of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 implementation plan by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and as a member of the advisory council of the Policy Research Foundation. He is also a member of the Northwest Regional Committee of AICTE, New Delhi.
Dr. Raj Nehru chairs the UGC committee responsible for developing skill-based vocational courses under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). His extensive contributions extend to organizations such as AICTE, UGC, MSDE, IILM University, Jammu Central University, NASSCOM Sector Skill Council, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, YMCA University of Science and Technology, Gurugram University, and Global Village Foundation, where he has served as a board or committee member.
Dr. Nehru has been actively involved in providing education to underprivileged children in slum areas of Gurugram through the *Utsav Foundation*, which he founded. The foundation provides free modern education to 350 students. For his contributions to disaster-affected regions in Uttarakhand, Visakhapatnam, and Jammu & Kashmir, he has received special recognition from the state government and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Dr. Nehru has been honored with numerous awards, including the Innovative Leader Award, Brick of Change Award, and Neelkanth Samman (2019). He has also received the Hall of Fame Award, Skills Leadership Award (2020), and the Most Inspiring Vice Chancellor Award for Excellence and Leadership in Education by the Golden AIM Conference and Awards.
