Srinagar, Feb 04: Former Municipal Committee Chairman Baramulla Sunday made a fervent plea to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the restoration of age relaxation for UPSC aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir, a provision that was available until 2019. ,

Speaking with Rising Kashmir Touseef Raina expressing the aspirations of youth from the region, Raina highlighted their ardent desire to serve the nation through the civil service.
Raina laminated a pivotal concern brought forth by many aspiring candidates: the withdrawal of the five-year age relaxation previously granted to Jammu and Kashmir candidates in UPSC examinations. Despite being inspired by the transformative changes brought about in 2019, these hopefuls now feel their opportunities constrained due to the absence of this crucial provision.
Citing several challenges faced by the youth in the J&K UT, Raina advocated for the temporary reinstatement of age relaxation to address their plight. He stressed that such a reinstatement would positively impact a vast number of youth, providing them with renewed opportunities to contribute to the nation-building process.
Raina asserted that reinstating age relaxation in UPSC examinations for Jammu and Kashmir candidates would be a visionary and inspiring step. He underscored its potential to strategically harness the energy and potential of the region’s youth towards integration, nation-building, and active participation in public life.
Expressing hope in the Home Minister’s consideration of his request, Raina envisaged the reinstatement of age relaxation as a transformative measure. He believed that such a step would not only empower the youth but also symbolize a commitment to inclusivity and equitable opportunities for all aspiring civil servants from Jammu and Kashmir.
Raina has hoped for a favourable response from the Home Minister with the aspirations of countless young minds eager to contribute to the progress and prosperity of the nation, particularly from the picturesque yet challenging terrains of Jammu and Kashmir.
