Srinagar, May 01: The Quality Council of India has grated bronze quality certification to emergency hospital Qazigund under Ayushman Bharat SEHAT Scheme, officials said.
The certification was issued following a six months long process including the inspection conducted by the QCI team that visited the hospital in January this year to take on ground assessment of the healthcare facilities.
Officials said that the certification will help in adding to the patient management and help in providing quality care services to patients in the district.
“In appreciation and recognition of the compliance with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY) bronze quality standards, this certificate is valid for the scope of services as mentioned overleaf under the scheme and is subject to continued adherence with the standard,” the certificate mentioned.
It mentions that the QCI reserves the right to assess the hospital anytime during the validity to ensure compliance.
This hospital has been empanelled and certified under AB PMJAY Quality Certification for the services that include Emergency Room Packages (Care requiring less than 22 hrs stay), General Medicine, Paediatric Medical Management, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Speaking with Rising Kashmir, Chief Medical Officer Kulgam, Dr. Gulzar Dar emphasized that the quality certification signifies that the hospital’s services are based on quality standards.
“It has many benefits for the hospital as the budget can increase and definitely it will further add to the services currently provided at the hospital. It is an ongoing process,” he said.
The CMO said that under the Ayushman Bharat SEHAT Scheme, there are many parameters that are being looked into across hospitals in the country to ensure quality patient care.
The certification will help in adding the facilities in the hospital besides boosting the morale of healthcare workers to work more hard to provide better patient care management.
Concerned officials also said the aim of putting the quality certification in public domain is to make sure that people are aware about the health care facilities to add credibility.
Bronze quality certification is the first step towards improvement in patient safety and quality of care. Bronze quality certificate is a pre-entry level certificate in AB PMJAY Quality Certification that intends to develop the necessary thrust to initiate quality practices in the health sector, especially in Small Health Care Organizations (SHCOs).
“Once bronze quality certification is achieved, the hospital can prepare and move to next stage i.e. Silver Quality Certification and finally to Gold Quality Certification. This methodology provides a step-by-step and staged approach, which is practical and achievable at the same time for hospitals,” said an official part of the certification process.
It also aims to bring both private and public AB PMJAY empanelled hospitals at par in terms of quality of service provided by them since the standards remain the same for all kinds of hospitals irrespective of their ownership.
