Jammu, Dec 04: District Development Council member and senior AAP leader TS Tony while hitting hard at the government said that the government is unleashing “tax terror” on citizens of Jammu and Kashmir and new property tax being mulled at Government setup will be a big blow below the belt for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference, TS Tony, who is also state spokesperson, said that BJP was voted to power in 2014 on slogan that ‘Bahot Hui Mehangai Ki Maar, Ab Ki Baar Modi Sarkar’ but the government has badly failed on this slogan and inflation rate is rising with each passing day putting a life of common man in hardships.
He said, “This was not even seen during British rule that a man has to pay tax on Roti but BJP has done this also and now one has to pay tax on Roti, curd and this is a new low form of inflation where a man has to pay tax on meal which was never ever witnessed in the country.”
Tony said that after “crushing” the common masses of Jammu and Kashmir through “tax bulldozer”, government seems ready with another tax strike which is in the form of property tax.
“A rumour has started from government setup that property tax could be implemented shortly and government is completely silent on this rumour, which shows that something is cooking in the pot.”
Tony said adding that in past it has been seen that whenever government remains silent on a rumour then rumour becomes reality.
He asked Jammu and Kashmir Government to clear the air of this rumour so that people of Jammu and Kashmir can remain aware of this new form of tax weapon which government can use to target the common masses.
TS Tony, while addressing the presser, also said that the working of excise and taxation department is also unsatisfactory and a number of wine shops are being run without functional swipe machines which is a violation.
