Accuses Cong of compromising national security with NC alliance
Asks Cong about support for separate flag & Art 370 restoration
Challenges Cong on NC’s plans for LoC trade & govt jobs
Srinagar, Aug 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday criticized Congress over its recent alliance with the National Conference (NC) for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
In a statement issued on Friday, Shah accused Congress of compromising national unity and security in its pursuit of power, questioning their motives behind their alliance with the NC.
Shah raised ten pointed questions to Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi. He asked whether Congress supports the NC’s commitment to reinstating a separate flag for Jammu and Kashmir, as detailed in the NC’s manifesto. He also queried if Congress and Rahul Gandhi are in favour of restoring Articles 370 and 35A, which could potentially reignite unrest and terrorism in the region.
The Minister sought clarification on whether Congress backs the NC’s proposal to engage in dialogue with Pakistan rather than focusing on local youth. Shah also inquired if Congress supports the NC’s plan to revive ‘LoC Trade’ with Pakistan, which could encourage terrorism.
Shah asked if Congress agrees with the NC’s proposal to reinstate government jobs for relatives of individuals involved in terrorism and stone-pelting. He questioned whether Congress supports the NC’s intention to end reservations for Dalits, Gujjars, Bakarwals, and Pahadis, which could undo the benefits provided after the abrogation of Article 370.
The Minister inquired if Congress supports the NC’s plans to rename ‘Shankaracharya Hill’ as ‘Takht-e-Suleiman’ and ‘Hari Hill’ as ‘Koh-e-Maran’. He also asked if Congress supports the NC’s alleged aim to return Jammu and Kashmir’s economy to a state of corruption and favoritism.
Meanwhile, Shah sought clarity on whether Congress endorses the NC’s politics of exacerbating division between Jammu and the Valley and if they support the NC’s proposal for increased autonomy for Kashmir.
