Political leaders extend Eid-ul-Fitr greetings, pray for peace, prosperity in J&K

Highlight unity, compassion, brotherhood, urge people to support those in need

Jammu, Mar 30: As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, leaders from various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have extended warm wishes to the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. They highlighted sentiments of brotherhood and compassion and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the region. The leader also urged people to support those in need during this time of celebration.

Dr Farooq Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah in his Eid greetings said, “I extend my heartfelt wishes to the people on this auspicious occasion, praying that the Almighty accepts our month-long fasting, repentance, prayers, and rectitude. May the Almighty promote unity among people and further the cause of harmony and brotherhood in J&K and around the world.”

Among others, senior leaders Ali Muhammad Sagar, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Nasir Aslam Wani, Shammi Oberoi, Tanvir Sadiq, MPs Mian Altaf Ahmad, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Media, Social Media, YNC, Women’s wing, Minority wing functionaries have also extended warmest greetings to people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr..

Mehbooba Mufti

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti extended heartfelt greetings to the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. She conveyed best wishes to all those celebrating and prayed for peace, prosperity and brotherhood.

“Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival that symbolises compassion, gratitude and togetherness. It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which people observe fasting, prayer and acts of kindness,” Mufti said, adding that this festival reminds everyone of the values of patience, generosity and unity.

Ghulam Nabi Azad

Former J&K Chief Minister and Chairman Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Ghulam Nabi Azad in his Eid greetings expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness to every household and strengthen the bonds of harmony and mutual respect in society.

He urged people to help those in need and spread the message of love and peace. Wishing everyone a joyous and blessed Eid, Azad encouraged people to celebrate with their loved ones while upholding the spirit of togetherness and goodwill.

Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami

Communist Party of Indian (Marxist) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Wishing all a happy and prosperous Eid, Tarigami expressed hope that the festival of joy and happiness will usher peace and prosperity to the world, especially to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“May this festival strengthen mutual goodwill and inspire each one of us to follow the path of love, friendship, harmony and peace in the state,” the CPI (M) leader said in his Eid message.

Tariq Karra

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra extended hearty greetings to people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. and prayed for their wellbeing.

In a statement, Karra said Eid-ul-Fitr is a unique and very pious occasion which is being celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramadan. “It (Eid-ul-Fitr) happens to be a great reward to people, who observe completely fast and seek forgiveness and mercy from the Almighty Allah during the holy month,” he said.

“On this pious occasion, I pray and hope that this Eid will usher in an era of peace, prosperity and stability in J&K, and bring a smile on the faces of people,” Karra prayed.

Altaf Bukhari

Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In his message, Bukhari said, “I extend my greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Besides festivity and joyful celebrations, this auspicious occasion symbolises our gratitude to the Almighty for His gift of Ramadan, which has given us an opportunity for repentance, self-purification, and the pursuit of piety. May this auspicious day and its celebrations bring peace, harmony, communal brotherhood, and prosperity to our region and its people.”

Bukhari urged the people to pray for the well-being of Jammu and Kashmir and its people.  He said, “I request everyone to pray for peace, harmony, and prosperity in our region on this auspicious occasion. I also humbly urge everyone to share their happiness with the poor and needy and extend support to the underprivileged members of our society as we celebrate this joyous occasion.”

Hakeem Yaseen

Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In his message, Hakeem Yaseen conveyed his heartfelt wishes for peace, prosperity, and happiness to the people of the region.

Yaseen said that Eid-ul-Fitr is not only a festival of joy and gratitude but also an occasion that strengthens the bonds of brotherhood, compassion, and unity. He urged everyone to celebrate this holy festival in the spirit of harmony and goodwill, ensuring that its essence of love and kindness reaches every corner of society.

Hakeem highlighted the importance of remembering the less fortunate during this sacred time and encouraged people to engage in acts of charity and generosity. The PDF leader said that true happiness is found in sharing, and the teachings of Eid-ul-Fitr inspire individuals to care for those in need.

The former minister called upon affluent sections of society to extend support to the underprivileged, enabling them to partake in the celebrations with dignity and happiness.

Expressing optimism for a brighter future, he prayed for lasting peace, progress, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated his commitment to working towards the welfare of the people and ensuring that the region moves forward on the path of development and stability.

Hakeem also acknowledged the sacrifices and hardships faced by many families and hoped that Eid-ul-Fitr would bring renewed hope and solace to all. He urged the youth to uphold the values of integrity and mutual respect, reinforcing a society based on justice and equality.

G M Shaheen

Jammu & Kashmir JDU President G M Shaheen has extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In his message, Shaheen said, “I extend my warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Beyond festivity and joyous celebrations, this auspicious occasion symbolizes our gratitude to the Almighty for the gift of Ramadan, which has provided us an opportunity for repentance, self-purification, and the pursuit of piety.”

Wishing Eid Mubarak to all, Shaheen highlighted the festival’s emphasis on the equality of mankind and God-consciousness. He expressed hope that this day would strengthen the bond of brotherhood among different communities in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, bringing much-needed peace and stability to the region. “May this blessed occasion bring peace, harmony, and prosperity to our people. Let us come together in the spirit of Eid to spread joy and unity,” he added.

Emphasising the importance of charity and compassion, Shaheen urged people to remember the less fortunate and share their happiness with the underprivileged. “I humbly request everyone to pray for the well-being of Jammu and Kashmir and extend support to those in need. Let us celebrate Eid with a spirit of kindness and inclusivity,” he said.
