Handwara, Nov 22: In a relentless pursuit against drug peddlers, Handwara Police took a decisive step by attaching a Shopping cum Residential House owned by the infamous drug trafficker Mohd Gulzar Mir, Son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Mir, a resident of Amargrah Tartpora Handwara.
According to Handwara police, the action, executed under section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985, marks a significant stride in curbing the narcotics trade in the region.
They said, Mir, embroiled in multiple NDPS cases, including FIR No. 49/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Vilgam and FIR No. 95/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Vilgam, is currently detained under the stringent PIT-NDPS Act at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu.
The attachment of Mir’s property comes after a thorough investigation by Handwara Police, revealing its illegal acquisition linked to illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, police saisaid.
The police source also informed Rising Kashmir that they have identified some other drug peddlers whose properties will be seized in next few days.
The community lauded the initiative, emphasizing the commitment of Handwara Police to combat the pervasive drug menace.
The local residents expressed gratitude for the decisive measures taken, applauding the detachment of assets associated with the illicit trade .
