Srinagar, Dec 17: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Budgam Constituency Incharge, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi on Tuesday wrote to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeking critical infrastructure developments for Budgam district.
In his letter to Gadkari, Muntazir highlighted the need for a ramp or access point connecting the residents of Budgam town, Sholipora and Paimas to the Srinagar Ring Road Project. He said the lack of connectivity to the project would restrict access for the local population, causing significant inconvenience.
Aga requested the minister to initiate a feasibility study and incorporate the proposal into the project’s framework. “We firmly believe that connecting Budgam town, Sholipora and Paimas to the Srinagar Ring Road aligns with the vision of inclusive development and enhancing regional connectivity,” he wrote.
In a separate letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the PDP leader urged the establishment of a Vande Bharat Express stop at Budgam Railway Station, which is the largest railway station in Kashmir division. “The station has strategic importance, particularly during natural calamities like the 2014 floods when it served as a vital operational unit,” he said.
Establishing a Vande Bharat stop at Budgam will significantly boost economic activity and tourism in the region, especially in destinations like Doodhpathri and Tosamaidan, which are major tourist attractions in Budgam district,” Aga stated in his letter.
