Srinagar, Apr 05: Taking a significant step towards effective monitoring of construction projects and disaster management initiatives in the Union territory the Jammu and Kashmir, Government on Friday constituted a committee to oversee the progress of various projects, including the construction of transit accommodations and disaster management projects.
Chaired by ChandrakerBharti, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, the committee comprises members from key departments such as Information Technology, Public Works (R&B), DMRRR, Planning Development & Monitoring, Department of Ecology Environment & Remote Sensing, Finance Department, and may include additional members as co-opted by the committee.
The committee’s primary objectives will include regularly monitoring and reviewing schemes related to transit accommodations, disaster management projects, and preparedness for Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) hazard mitigation measures in the Himalayas.
It will also identify bottlenecks in project implementation and suggest timely resolutions to ensure coordination among various departments and stakeholders in the Union territory as well as relevant Ministries, departments in the Government of India.
With a commitment to transparency and efficiency, the committee will submit a monthly Progress Report to the office of the Chief Secretary, J&K, facilitating informed decision-making and streamlined project implementation processes.
