Srinagar, Oct 4: In a startling revelation, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, revealed a shocking statistic of more than 2.50 lakh individuals who secured government jobs through backdoor channels during the past administrations in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing an event held in North Kashmir’s Kupwara, Dr Mehta expressed his dismay, stating, “I feel ashamed to say that over 2.50 lakh undeserving candidates had been given government jobs in J&K through illegal and backdoor means.”
Dr Mehta emphasised that the present administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, is resolute in its commitment to providing dignified livelihood opportunities to educated youth and is determined to eliminate illegal and backdoor appointments. He declared, “No job will be provided through backdoor means. Poor children who were being deprived in the past will be given their due rights and jobs now.”
Addressing rumours that the government had halted recruitment processes, Dr Mehta clarified that “30,000 jobs were given to J&K youth in the last three years,” demonstrating the government’s continued dedication to employment generation. He underscored that the era of nepotism and corruption in government job allocation was over, and the rights of the less privileged were no longer being trampled upon. “Those who deserve government jobs will be given their due rights, while those who don’t deserve them should explore other means of livelihood. It is better to engage in some business instead of holding a daily wage post,” he maintained.
