Srinagar, Oct 05: The government has announced the appointment of Anand Jain, an IPS officer from the 1999 batch, as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Jammu Zone.
This significant appointment comes in the wake of a government order that relieves Mukesh Singh, an accomplished 1996-batch IPS officer, and the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Jammu Zone, of the additional charge he had held for an extended period.
The decision was made in strict compliance with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India’s Order, dated September 19, 2023 (endorsed as F.No.140/03/2022-UTS.I). Mukesh Singh, IPS (AGMUT: 1996), has been formally relieved from his duties in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, enabling him to assume a new role within the Government of India, as per the government’s Home Department order.
In light of these recent developments, Anand Jain, IPS (AGMUT: 1999), who previously served as the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jammu and Kashmir, has been transferred and appointed as the Inspector General of Police for Jammu Zone, effective immediately.
It has been decided that Anand Jain will continue to hold the charge of the post of Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jammu and Kashmir until further orders are issued, ensuring a seamless transition and efficient leadership in both roles.
