Srinagar, Sept 30: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather on Friday said Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a ‘mild-viral’ disease, and added those infected with the virus must isolate themselves.
In his video message to the general public, the Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said, Hand Foot and Mouth Disease is although a mild-viral disease and people should not panic.
He said the HFMD has been reported in a particular school in Srinagar and there is no case reported elsewhere as health teams of DHSK are inspecting the situation at grassroots level.
He said the isolation in the disease is “must” and “uncompromised,” adding, “Those children contracting HFMD should be taken to isolation”.
About preventive measures, the Director said people should maintain proper hygiene, sanitation and isolation so that the disease will be combated efficiently.
“If preventive measures against the virus will be taken religiously the HFMD will not spread”, he added.
“Mostly the HFMD disease is being reported in 3 to 5 age groups of children. However, those contracts should be isolated and preventive measures should be taken”, he also added.
In his appeal, the Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said there is no need of anti-viral.
“People should avoid sharing things of infected children to others. Preventive measures suggested by health experts will avoid major complications,” he said.
