Ganderbal, Sep 6: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah on Friday said that the upcoming Assembly elections are important for everyone in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to media persons in Ganderbal, Omar said that these elections hold significance as they are being held after a decade-long gap and more than six years of central rule following the August 5, 2019, developments.
Abdullah pointed out that these elections are crucial for everyone involved, given the historical and political context of the UT. Hesemphasised the role of his party, National Conference, noting its status as the premier political organization in the region and reflecting on its recent success as the single largest party in the assembly constituencies during the recent parliamentary elections.
Despite not contesting the 2014 elections and experiencing a loss in 2002, Abdullah expressed confidence in his past successes and his connection with the people of Ganderbal. He recalled his victories in three previous elections and his time as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Abdullah conveyed his hope that the people of Ganderbal would support him once again, reinforcing his commitment to representing their interests effectively.
