Srinagar, Apr 18: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari affirmed on Thursday that his party stands directly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He was responding to a question of whether the Apni Party was indirectly affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing reporters at the party office in Srinagar, Bukhari said that the Prime Minister safeguarded the land and jobs of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370, and he remains committed to restoring statehood, which aligns with the Apni Party’s core agenda.
“New Delhi is in favour of those who look out for the people’s best interests. In India, there’s no place for those who don’t echo the people’s hopes,” he asserted.
Responding to questions about the role of politics in the violence in Kashmir Valley, Altaf Bukhari acknowledged its influence. He referred to recent statements by the Home Minister suggesting political involvement in Kashmir’s militancy and unrest.
Bukhari promised that if his party comes to power, they will establish a commission to investigate various incidents and uncover the truth.
Reflecting on the challenges faced when the Apni Party was established in 2020, Bukhari noted criticism from multiple quarters. However, he maintained that his party remained committed to honest politics despite the scrutiny.
He said Apni Party’s popularity is growing, attributing it to the perception of honesty, even if it means being straightforward. He expressed confidence in the upcoming election results, stating that his party’s consistent engagement with the people over the past four years will yield positive outcomes.
The election results on June 04 will serve as a surprise to those who doubt the Apni Party, Bukhari said, adding that for the last four years, his party has been out among the people, not isolated from them.
