Srinagar, Nov 20: People’s Democratic Front (PDF) chairman Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has expressed deep sorrow over the massive loss caused by a devastating fire that gutted around 18 structures in the Gurpura area of Rainawari, leaving several families homeless during the harsh winter months.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem urged the administration to provide immediate assistance to the affected families, including housing units and essential food supplies necessary for their survival in the freezing temperatures.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragedy in Gurpura, where 18 structures were destroyed, leaving many families without shelter during this extremely cold time of the year,” Yaseen said. “I appeal to the administration to take swift action and rehabilitate the affected families on a war footing, as they face life-threatening conditions due to the severe winter weather.”
Yaseen extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families affected by the fire, many of whom, he noted, belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category. He also appealed to philanthropists and the wider community to come forward and extend their support in the form of financial contributions, essential goods and other forms of aid to help rebuild the lives of those affected.
