Srinagar, 26 Aug: Taking a significant stride towards enriching student engagement and academic triumph, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has approved “Faculty Mentor System” and initiation of ‘Remedial Classes’ for its students.
The Faculty Mentor System will provide personalized guidance and assistance to students, while the Remedial Classes will help students who are struggling academically. Both initiatives aim to enhance the overall educational journey of NIT Srinagar students.
Under the Faculty Mentor System, each academic department shall designate faculty mentors for their students. Every student will be matched with a dedicated faculty mentor who will provide tailored guidance and assistance aligned with the student’s goals, challenges, and aspirations.
The mentors will be available to meet with students regularly, both in person and online, to discuss their academic progress, career goals, and any other personal or academic challenges they may be facing.
The Remedial Classes will be offered by the Institute to cater to students facing academic challenges and will provide them with additional guidance and assistance to enhance their understanding of crucial subjects.
The classes will be tailored to the specific needs of students. The classes will be taught by experienced faculty members and will focus on helping students improve their understanding of the material, develop their study skills, and build their confidence.
These initiatives are being implemented from Autumn semester 2023-24 academic year and Heads of various departments have already made the needed preparations. Students and faculty members are equally appreciative of these initiatives and hoping to have positive impact on academic performance.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sudhakar Yedla expressed his positive outlook on the Faculty Mentor System, emphasizing its potential to mitigate students’ sense of detachment from their homes.
He stated that the mentors will be like friendly helpers for students, guiding them through any emotional difficulties in academics. This way of looking at things will take care of the students’ overall mental health and happiness, Prof. Yedla said.
“The core objective of these initiatives is to help students to succeed academically and achieve their goals.” he said.
Director NIT Srinagar said that the Faculty Mentor System and Remedial Classes are part of NIT Srinagar’s commitment to providing its students with the support they need to succeed.
The institute believes that these initiatives will help students to reach their full potential and make a positive contribution to the world, he said.
