Jammu, Jan 08: The Administration enforced night curfew along International border in samba district of Jammu to enhance the area control by BSF troops and thwart any malicious activities near the borderline.
The decision, as per District Magistrate Abhishek Sharma’s official directive, aims to prevent cross-border infiltration and weapon smuggling through drones, particularly in the dense foggy weather conditions along the Indo-Pak border line.
As outlined in the order, civilian movement within a one-kilometer strip from the IB in Samba district is restricted from 9 pm to 6 am. The District Magistrate invoked Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code to enforce the night curfew along the IB.
The directive stems from a meeting of the district-level standing committee, where BSF authorities proposed a daily night curfew on a one-kilometer strip from the IB. This measure, they said, would enable more effective execution of their duties.
The order emphasizes the regulation of people’s movement in border areas to enhance BSF’s area control and thwart any designs detrimental to security. In cases where movement is essential, individuals must present their respective ID cards to BSF and police authorities.
The order warns that any violation will be addressed in accordance with the law and, being issued ex-parte due to the impracticality of individual service, will be effective immediately for two months from the date of issuance, unless withdrawn or rescinded earlier.
